About Sara

Sara Biggs Chaney graduated with a B.A. in English from Barnard College in 1999. She received her Ph.D. from Indiana University in 2008.

Since 2005, Sara has been teaching composition at Dartmouth College, where she is a lecturer in Dartmouth's Institute for Writing and Rhetoric.

Sara would pass any lie detector test in the world when telling you that poetry is her first love. She returned in 2013 to a regular habit of poetry after a long and joyless time away. Since her return, she sleeps better and smiles more often.

She has published two chapbooks: Precipice Fruit (ELJ Publications) and Ann Coulter's Letter to the Young Poets (dancing girl press). She has also recently completed her first full-length collection of poetry, Hagia Animalia. Her manuscript was a finalist for Sundress Publication's open reading period, and she's hopeful that it will find a good home soon.

Sara also serves as the poetry editor for Split Lip Magazine.

Her work has lately appeared in a range of places. She has recently appeared or has work forthcoming in Sugar House Review, Hotel Amerika, The Normal School, and others. She's been honored to be named a finalist for Best of the Net 2013 and was very happy to be be a quarter finalist for the 2013 Mary Ballard
Chapbook Contest.
